Are our sessions confidential?
How do I find out if therapy is right for us/me?
If you want to find out how counselling could help you, give me an email or a call and I will be more than happy to have a chat, don't feel that this is a burden or I won't have the time. If you call and I don't pick up, leave a message let me know explicitly whether its OK for me to ring you back, and whether a particular time is better, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
What happens in the first session?
My priority in the first session is that you get an idea of the process, you feel safe, and that you begin to understand I will work at your pace, and will value you feedback throughout.
How long are the sessions?
Your therapy sessions will last for 55 minutes and normally we will meet at the same time every week. I can sometimes offer flexibility, for example, to accommodate holidays or shift working patterns.
How long will the process take?
This is difficult to determine. Your situation and your budget are certainly relevant. Counselling can be short or long term. Usually couples and individuals don't have a completely fixed budget and often sessions move in an organic way; and so does the work
If you have financial constraints or you have an idea that you'd like short or longer term therapy, we can discuss this. It is important that you take part in this decision-making process, and we work collaboratively.
What is your way of working?
I work in an integrative way which means that I draw from several theories based on your needs. Please feel free to ask me about this at any time during our work together. You can read more about counselling different approaches by clicking here.
